Mitondra antsika hitety ny tranombarikan'i Dhaka (na ny ambany tanàna araka ny fiteny hafa) ny ekipam-bilaogeran'ny Nari Jibon, mamariparitra ny fiainan'ny Bangladeshita monina amin'ny faritra mahantra indrindra amin'ny renivohitra. Noho ny fandehanan'ny dikantsoratra haingana dia haingana, dia afindrako eto izany soratra izany.

Dhaka, as the capital of Bangladesh, has grown into a busy city of about 11 million people and covers about 816 square kilometers. The climate is tropical as in the rest of Bangladesh; for most of the year it is warm with bright sunshine. Many of them come to Dhaka for finding jobs and to make some kind of livelihood. This is an area beside the Malimagh railway line where a slum village has been built by squatters. Most of the houses are made of bamboo lattice screen and tin roofs on a dirt floor. This is the only well to cover water for more than 100 families. All the people in this area use this well for bathing, drinking, and other activities.

The environment of a slum is very dirty. Water is dirty there and sanitation practices are unhealthy.

- What is your name?
– Mazed Mymensing
– Why did you come to Dhaka?
– I came to Dhaka due to poverty.
– What is your profession now?

Many people are living here. Of them, many men are working in shops, some are rickshaw pullers, some are day laborers, some are hawkers, etc. Women are also working outside to earn money for their family. Some women are domestic workers, some are day laborers, hawkers, street cake sellers, etc. Many of them beg for a living or for extra money.

- Where do you live?
– In the slum.
– Where is your home district?
– Khulna. I am a shopkeeper.

Most of the people of the slum are illiterate. Most of the children do not go to school. The children are playing [during the day] as they do not go to school. Slum people suffer from hunger, malnutrition, and different kinds of diseases.

Nitombo ho tanàna maresaka ahitana mponina tokony ho 11 tapitrisa eo ho eo, ao anatin'ny velarantany 816 km toradroa, i Dhaka, amin'ny maha-renivohitr'i Bangladesh azy. Toetany mafana tahaka ny ao Bangladesh manontolo no misy ao; mafana sy mibaliaka ny masoandro amin'ny ankapobeny mandritra ny taona. Maro amin'ny olona no tonga ao Dhaka hitady asa sy hanao izay hivelomana. Faritra iray ankilan'ny lalamby Malimagh no nanorenan'ny mpibodo tany ny ambany tanàna. Vita amin'ny bararata novelarina sy tafo vifotsy ary gorodona maloto ny ankamaroan'ny trano. Io ny dobo tokana manome rano ho an'ny fianakaviana 100 mahery. Mampiasa io fatsakana io handroana, hisotroana rano, sy hanaovan-javatra hafa ny olona rehetra amin'ity faritra ity.

Maloto dia maloto ny tontolo iainana amin'ity ambany tanàna ity. Maloto ny rano ao ary tsy mahasalama ny fomba fidiovana.

- Iza ny anaranao?
– Mazed Mymensing
– Maninona ianao no tonga eto Dhaka?
– Tonga eto Dhaka aho noho ny fahantrana.
– Inona ny asanao izao?

Olona maro no miaina eto. Maro amin'ny lehilahy no miasa any am-pivarotana, ny sasany mpitarika posy, ny sasany mpiasa isan'andro, ny sasany mpivaro-mandeha, sns. Miasa ivelan'ny trano ihany koa ny vehivavy hahazoana vola ho an'ny fianakaviany. ny sasany amin'ireo mpiasa an-trano, ny sasany mpiasa isan'andros, mpivaro-mandeha, mpivarotra mofomamy an-dalambe, sns. Maro amin'ireo mangataka hiainany na vola tombony.

- Aiza ianao no monina?
– Any ambany tanàna.
– Aiza no misy ny distrikan'ny tranonao?
– Khulna. mpitam-barotra aho.

Maro amin'ireo olona ambany tanàna no tsy mahay mamaky teny sy manoratra. Tsy mankany an-tsekoly ny ankamaroan'ny ankizy. Milalao [mandritra ny andro ny ankizy] satria tsy mankany an-tsekoly. Mianjady amin'ny mponina ambany tanàna na hanoanana, tsy fanjarian-tsakafo, ary ireo karazan'aretina.
